I’m not sure I loved it as much as I thought I would, but I think that’s a response to the stresses of the world we’re living in, not to the book. I do love the way history—and history making—are depicted in this book, although it’s equally a book about trees and nature. Read along The Overstory and The Vaster Wilds to make your brain and heart spin

A treat!! This book is like a fever dream but in a good way. The main character is the yellow house that sees a host of characters come and go (some stay forever) while the world changes around them.
It's best to go into this book with an open mind because it mixes genres, and some stories (Lilian and her son's story) were gut wrenching.

Wat een fantastisch boek! Gewoon heel erg mooi geschreven. Prrrrachtig!

History, nature, the supernatural…

A story of change and loss centered on a house in the woods of western MA. The voice and style change with the residents over 250 years. Occasionally the author gets too fond of his cleverness and could have benefited from more forceful editing. He is clever however and much is beautifully written. Recommended.
