I'm currently on a jury ranking horror short stories for an award. I lay this out there because, regardless of how I feel, I read them all. That's what I prefer to do. If I start something I want to finish it.
Having said that, I couldn't finish the book. I understand the idea of reboots -- I got seriously into comics just as they started up Crisis on Infinite Earths. I've read through a number of revisions of Superman and, with apologies, this one just doesn't do it for me.
Frankly, the gawkiness and stubbornness and poor-tempered Superman in the New 52 reminds me of the Earth-Prime (villainous) Superboy that with any Superman that I prefer reading. Now, given that, the premise of this book initially seemed interesting. Brainiac was given some new twists to his origin and had apparently bio-formed some people as test subjects, giving them psionic powers. Cool. That sounds promising. Especially since, in this Superman-variant, psi is one of his weak points.
But then they dropped in an unrelated character. And another. And a third. And their agendas were all basically "I wants to run teh planetz".
So I stopped reading. It's rare but it happens. Sorry DC but no love for this title.
