A terrific and enjoyable story for Colum McCann's first novel. Both heartwarming and at times harrowing. Let down a little in the middle by some slow sections, but the writing is pockmarked with brilliance throughout and the talent bursting from McCann's pores is fully evident in this tale of place and family.
