Felicity Montague is through with pretending she prefers society parties to books about bonesetting--or that she's not smarter than most people she knows, or that she cares about anything more than her dream of becoming a doctor.

A year after an accidentally whirlwind tour of Europe, which she spent evading highwaymen and pirates with her brother Monty, Felicity has returned to England with two goals in mind--avoid the marriage proposal of Callum Doyle, a lovestruck suitor from Edinburgh, and enroll in medical school. However, her intellect and passion will never be enough in the eyes of the administrators, who see men as the sole guardians of science.

Closer to a 3.5 for me. I had started reading this during a reading slump and put it aside before getting very far in it. The reading tides turned and I picked this back up and I'm glad I did! I really enjoy books where the characters are on the road for most of the time and the places they went here aren't the normal places stories set in the 1700/1800s usually send their characters so that was interesting.

If I hadn't read a contemporary YA book prior to this one that also featured an asexual character, I would have completely missed that Felicity is asexual, but I really like this was included, especially in a historical setting.

When I picked up this book, I was in a reading slump. Really, if it weren't for this book, I may not have made it to my GoodReads goal.

This was my most anticipated book this year. I read it on audiobook, and it was a struggle because I read it at work and on my bus commute and other public places, and I had so much trouble not laughing out loud. I absolutely loved reading this and if Mackenzie Lee decides to publish a Percy POV novel, I will be all over it.
