Rez Dogs

A quick but satisfying read about Malian, who is visiting her grandparents on the reservation when the pandemic begins and, as such, stays for much longer than she originally planned. While there, she befriends a reservation dog (thus the title) and connects with her family's history through her grandparents' stories. Honest about both the historical treatment of Native people in the U.S. and the realities of COVID life without becoming too heavy. I enjoyed the inclusion of traditional stories and the general adorableness of the dog. Definitely need to read more Bruchac.
