Strangely distant and matter-of-fact

An intriguing story about weather watchers in the near future, which dwells a little too much on the – admittedly vivid – descriptions of tornados, and then leads to a disappointing end. Yes, it is all very believable, but it simply doesn't make for a good ending to this particular story.

The writing is strangely distant and matter-of-fact. Even the sex scenes aren't very emotional (or even horny), let alone the half-wrought relationship between the two siblings. Sterling's strongest point is the description of fast events: he can go on for pages, yet it reads like a stylish slow-motion sequence.
