TaxideaDaisy reviewed Deposition by Pete Green
Review of 'Deposition' on 'Goodreads'
5 stars
A slim volume of poetry. (The cover title of my copy is “Deposition” sans S, but the title page does indeed say DEPOSITIONS.)
83 pages of short poems divided into four sections, plus an Opening Statement. Many poems are of a spiritual nature, but these are neither maudlin nor romanticized.
Some skew pastoral, many others engage with mortality. They are crafted and reside in certain times and places, but speak clearly to the reader without undue baggage.
Full disclosure: I am fortunate enough to count Green my friend, and have benefited from his mentoring— and observed the effort and intention behind other works of this style a few years after this was published.
I am so gratified to return to these verses decades later and find their musculature undiminished.
