This is an excellent collection of stories with which to end the Holmes canon. All the stories are inventive, and I really appreciated the experimentation with narration, having Holmes narrate a couple stories and using the third person in another. And of course we get a glimpse of Holmes' idyllic retirement, keeping bees at a beach house just the right distance from stimulating neighbors. "Why not give ourselves up to the unrestrained enjoyment of the present?"
