Review of 'Dragonsdawn' on 'Goodreads'

This was my first Pern book. It’s not a bad introduction to the world, given its prequel nature. It’s A fun read with tons of nerdy science and dragons too! I wasn’t completely satisfied with the structure of the plot, as one storyline ends abruptly and is then ignored in the conclusions of other storylines, while several others that feel like Easter eggs for those who have read other books in the series go nowhere. Still I enjoyed it and am thinking seriously about revisiting Pern through the other books of the series.

Just a few comments, really. I don't know if I'd recommend it as a starting point for the Pern books, as it takes about 150 pages to get going. Once it takes off, though, it's very readable.

I had trouble keeping track of the many characters. It will be fun to reread some of the other Pern books especially the one where they rediscover some of the places that figure in this story.
