42 pages in, too clunky for a finished novel, definitely could have benefited from an extra round with the editor
Hit on every single trope, not in the greatest way.
Not bad, but lacking in polish and that Crichton touch. This was by no means a complete manuscript they plundered from him. More like a good concept in progress.
Though this book doesn't seem like a typical Michael Crichton novel at first, then I remembered that this was the work of the author who wrote The Eaters of the Dead and The Great Train Robbery.
