What happens to them–and to the men they love–becomes an unforgettable drama of loyalty, justice, humanity, and passion. These heroic women refuse to be cowed by men …

Review of 'The Giver of Stars' on 'Goodreads'

I like the concept of a horseback library, the setting of Appalachia during the TVA program, and characters that are feminists ahead of their time. Despite those winning elements, this is a romance and it gives in to the weaknesses of that genre, including some sex scenes that do little to advance the story or develop the characters. Meh.
