This book seems to be Anne McCaffrey's Dragonrider of Pern series heavily mixed with Egyptian culture, with a Mercedes Lackey twist. It's not a total rip of McCaffrey though, and I loved the story. After trudging through [b:Exile's Honor|28725|Exile's Honor (The Heralds of Valdemar, Book 6)|Mercedes Lackey|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1167955385s/28725.jpg|2615], I was a little afraid that Lackey had lost her edge but she proved me wrong with this book. I love her descriptions of the culture and the dragons and am looking foward to reading the second book in the series. And gorgeous cover art by Jody Lee. Well worth a read for all fantasy fans.
