I think I can sum up this review by saying this was a delightful sequel that picked up where the first book left off. Simon and his village returns to fight monsters once more, with a very familiar face making a welcome return.

The book had a bit of a slow start, but once the Box of Desires from the title hits the page, the story gets going & keeps going with some heavy consequences and life changing events for the characters.

Much like the first book, I enjoy the mix of horror & humor with witty moments to balance out the serious.

Though I think my favorite thing about this series is how the entire town is involved: It's not just a kid adventure, their parents, their neighbors, and everyone is involved in one big group effort. You can feel the camaraderie (and the bickering) for everyone living in …
