I cannot fathom why this piece of dreck is a bestseller. It starts by setting itself in one of the darkest chapters in human history and then quickly morphs into a god-awful teen romance. It’s Holocaust fan fiction. This reads exactly like an episode of Hogan’s Heroes written by a 14-year-old girl for other 14-year-old girls. As for “true”?

This book was really sad, but I didn't mind it. I could very much tell it
was
written by a woman. There was a sense of hope through out the story, but it wasn't as captivating as a World War 2 book could be. It was kind of repetative in some parts but the characters weren't all that bad. I was glad the book wasn't any longer.
