Entertaining enough sequel
3 stars
The more things change, the more they stay the same for Saevus. Finally back to scavenging battlefields after an island getaway, he’s unwillingly roped into besieging a castle. Encounters with unwelcome relatives, cannibals, and an annoying woman he can’t seem to avoid (not that he really wants to) all complicate matters terribly.
The entirety of this book reads a bit like the final third of “Saevus Corax Deals with the Dead” in both style and content. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the first book due to this, but I did like it enough to finish the series.
