Orientation is a story that begins with our characters North and Shaw. These are characters with a history, and you learn about this history in snippets as the story progresses. It does make things confusing at first, but the unfolding of these characters is more organic for it. I just really enjoy this book. It's an investment though, so don't go into this expecting a big payoff. This author is gonna string us along (I can feel it in my guts) but the return in investment is probably going to be so worth it.
