Yet another excellent Bernie Gunther mystery. This is among Kerr's best. Included in this tale are detailed historical discussions of the human, political, and regional dynamics associated with the 20 years either side of WW2. As with many of the Bernie Gunther tales, this novel is filled with dark sarcasm, humor and Kerr's unique slant on the past.

Not as strong as [b:The Lady from Zagreb|23281730|The Lady from Zagreb (Bernard Gunther, #10)|Philip Kerr|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1417982241s/23281730.jpg|42819694], as it was a bit more talky and less emotional, but has the added attraction of Bernie running into real life characters like [a:Maugham W. So an excellent entry and I'm already looking forward to [b:Prussian Blue|30056163|Prussian Blue|Philip Kerr|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|50467137].
