I didn't know that wasn't the true finale of the series when I read it; that said, maybe that's the reason why I enjoyed it so immensely. Good police procedural fun, and, for some reason, I found Soto's character particular charming. That said, you really have to be into this sort of books to enjoy it - it's a procedural story, not a detective novel.
