Zoo Station

This was not at all what I had expected. Rather than being a WW2-era German Noir Detective Mystery, this was a well-crafted psychological Thriller. The intrigues were interesting but the psychological impact of Hitler's 1939 Germany on the primary characters was engrossing, tragic and inspiring.

Have already read one of the later books in the series, here is where it all starts. The atmosphere is constantly haunting menace and the plotting is really good. I like the way there is so much detail and characterisation around the essential plot. Looking forward to reading the others in the series.
