This book reads like someone showing off he knows everything, and it's effective, this guy seems to know everything. At first it seemed like it would be silly and fun read with tips on how to start a fire and other boy scout stuff but it after a while it turns into a handbook on creating a new civilization, from writing to philosophy to the scientific method to music theory (much of which I didn't know despite having years of piano lessons inflicted on me) and capping off with my favorite topic, computers, but computers built using the basics of digital (boolean) logic with water, pulleys, or even slow moving crabs. That's not a high priority if you follow the book's premise that you time-travelled back to prehistoric times, but the chapters on just surviving seem pretty useful in general (first aid basics, how not do die of food poisoning...). …
