It's definitely a heroes story, there are a couple of just awesome supposedly human beings there. The only magic so far that's been there is prophecy which is quite low on the list of magics I like. Still, I enjoyed this story. I guess mostly because it seemed to treat every death with some gravity. And I kind of like the heroes in the book. They all have some sorts of backgrounds which make them who they are and they feel like they make decisions.
