A bit of a departure from where things went at the end of volume 3 (apparently the result of some dama in the creative team), the book is back to a simpler formula, closer to what went on in book one. I feel - contrary to some other reviews - that this does not wholly discount everything that happened in book 3,but instead feels more like things have skipped ahead (leaving room for future volumes to fill in),and while the character development was slow, there was some, and what feels like a lot of setup for more to come.
