This is A) beautifully written and B) like a mix between a David Attenborough-narrated NatGeo documentary and a Jeff VanderMeer novel. As such, it's very much worth reading, specially if one enjoyed the first entry in the series. That said, I thought the story didn't really move like I wanted to until the last third or so, and the somewhat disconnected vignettes, although ideal for the variety of animal kingdom cameos the author successfully includes, made it less coherent than I would've liked.
