I didn't expect to relate to this story, but the many perspectives that are insightfully woven in kept me quite engaged. Yes, a love story takes center stage, but it's used to explore many other facets of Jennie's character: her roles as a socialite, musician, political consultant, writer, wife, and mother. Add in a realistic historical setting and dialog that feels incredibly authentic, and you hardly need to care about the romance if you don't want to.
