"Explore the gore" might be a good slogan for this blood-drenched take on the story of Cortes. I learned things, which earns the books some points. Actually I'm thankful the character development wasn't better, because if I were to really identify with the characters this tale would be unendurable. As it stands I developed a disturbed fascination with the depravities of the story, which is probably for the best.
