A good book giving you a clear introduction to some of the basics of cooking. With the ratio's he outlines you really get better control in the kitchen to free yourself up to be able to not only make as much as you need, but create variations easily and with confidence.

Review of 'Ratio' on 'Goodreads'

Rather than teaching you recipes, Ratio teaches you the basis of how food is made. It teaches you the proportions of commonly made items like bread and cookies, and from there you can modify the recipes to produce what you want. Probably the most important cook book on my shelf.
