I jumped at the opportunity to get my hands on a new Salman Rushdie book before it was published and I'm glad I did. Sometimes Rushdie can get a little precious with the magical realism but I didn't find that to be the case with Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Days. There's a deliciously dark edge that keeps things from getting too cutesy and whimsical. Phenomenal beach read.
