This is a great collection. The standout story to me is “Seasons of Glass and Iron” by Amal El-Mohtar.

Two stories of two women ... one who has to wear down 7 pairs of iron shoes and the other has to sit still on a mountain of glass. Both stories have a poetic fairy-tale beginning. Then the women meet, and as their stories intersect, the message comes down heavy-handed. One of them has an abusive husband and has to realize that it is not her fault, and the other has been attracting the attention of too many men and has to realize it is not her fault. While these are modern, feminist themes I love to see in stories, and I like stories with a message, I also I like to figure it out myself. This one left nothing much for me to think about.
