Building From Ashes

Managing to pull a rescue-the-lady scenario without being awful about it seems to be something most authors I've read in romance just cannot pull off. This, however, worked really well, twice - and seriously, agency matters like crazy. In part because the rescue wasn't the focus either time, but also because the characters weren't, y'know, rescue-focused.

I did not like the first half of the book, per se, but the payoff was pretty darn good, and it fit very well with the other series this continues from, without seeming cobbled together.
