My goodness, that was a fine read.

A wealthy English paleontologist marries a young Austrian Jewess to save her from the Nazis who have recently taken over Austria. This marriage of convenience turned out to not be so easy to sunder under English law, and what you'd expect happens (sorry).
My goodness, that was a fine read.
You know what? I’m bumping this to 5 stars despite the last act ~misunderstanding~. The book acknowledges that Ruth is being melodramatic, at least. And the romance is one of Ibbotson’s better ones—I actually believe these two know each other well enough to be in love. As for the refugees and the Willow Tea Room…nothing could be better.
