The plots are in full motion now. Darkness in the guise of light is sweeping the land. Will the good ever catch a break? Standing back and being analytical this is following a classical script--learn your characters, roll the known world, follow the scattered and wait for collective rebellious parties while the tide continues to push against them.
Nothing wrong with that. A pinch of betrayal here, a reversal of allegiance there. It all makes for great story telling. I still cringe at watching dark tides roll. You don't want them to. You don't want a world plunged into darkness, do you? No.. not unless we're doing the anti-hero gambits. Here though you wince, you know, you sigh.. For a moment you.. Hope.. and that's always bad in a story like this because hope is fragile..
