This is the first novel I’ve read by Jessie Burton, so my criticisms are based on this work alone and do not reflect my opinion of The Miniaturist. I enjoyed the main plot and interweaved timelines, but the big reveal at the end was so obvious that I had it pegged a quarter of the way through. Nevertheless, I found the main characters believable and fleshed out. Overall, it was a fun and engaging story that I would recommend to readers of historical fiction and those who find pleasure in art or the craft of writing.
