English cooking is less famous for a reason, I guess. The pictures in this recipe book are absolutely horrendous. The point about food literature is to make you want to actually cook the food.

I give this book three starts because there is next to nothing about the culinary use of many of the crops in this book. That in itself makes it worthwhile referencing for anyone trying to grow them. This is by far the most under-developed aspect of agroforestry. How to best prepare the crops? Which part of the season do they taste best? Which other tastes, aromas and cooking techniques are suitable for which crops? These are all questions to be answered by chefs (professional or amateur) and I look forward to the day when this particular book will be viewed as a cute, although important pioneer effort.
