Ever since she was eight years old, high school student Janie Hannagan has been uncontrollably drawn into other people's dreams, but it is not until she befriends an elderly nursing home patient and becomes involved with an enigmatic fellow-student that she discovers her true power.

Review of 'Wake' on 'Goodreads'

This book has merit- the heroine is responsible and independent with an alcoholic mother. The uncanny ability to read the dreams of all who sleep within her proximity.
This is indulgent fantasy for teens, and it would definitely make the list of desired super-powers for those who read it... Anyone who has seen how teens fall asleep in school could see what a valuable skill this might be to an inquisitive teen.

I found the love interest to be unbearably tedious, if essential to the plot, but it will appeal to many teens and romance fans. Additionally, Wake is dark, like the work of Holly Black, so this might not be a great choice for younger or more sheltered teens.
