Interesting subject matter, but the characters were vaguely drawn, and the unconventional writing style seemed self-consciously artistic, often distracting and annoying. I kept reading because I wanted to see what happened, but pushing through to the end felt more like a chore than a pleasure.

2.5 stars. I thought I'd like this novel more because I am anticipating the future that's predicted within. But, the story didn't tell me enough about any of the characters to relate to them, and there's very few of them. Like others, I thought the voices of two of the main characters sound very similar. I would barely have been able to tell them apart except for their relationships to the other two characters. So, for a novel that isn't character driven, I would expect things to happen. And while on a grand scale, they do, the characters, and we, are far from the action. I read this simple novel VERY quickly, expecting more. The novel skips around on a timeline a lot, so when things did happen, I found it anticlimactic.
