Quinn Maclay reviewed How to be both by Ali Smith (Clipper -- LP3487)
Review of 'How to Be Both'
4 stars
“Art makes nothing happen in a way that makes something happen.”
Very similar in tone and style to previous Ali Smith books I've read - which is certainly not a negative. I preferred the George section due to the more conventional tone. However, I think the Francesco part had more depth, and reads as a kind of gender-fluid/trans allegory.
