A charming and thoughtful magical realism book in the vein of Philip Marlowe meets Dark City meets Carnival. The world in which the protagonist - an everyman who would certainly not be a prime candidate for Hero status - lives is dreamy, moody and atmospheric, the plot purposely convoluted and the ending skillfully (if abruptly) written.
