4 stars
Does a nice job of engaging both the literal and larger narrative, and some solid teasing about Thor's identity with being obnoxious.

Mjolnir lies on the moon, unable to be lifted! Something dark has befallen the God of Thunder, leaving him unworthy for the first time ever! But when Frost Giants invade Earth, the hammer will be lifted - and a mysterious woman will be transformed into an all-new version of the mighty Thor! Who is this new Goddess of Thunder? Not even Odin knows ... but she may be Earth's only hope against the Frost Giants! Get ready for a Thor like you've never seen before, as this all-new heroine takes Midgard by storm! Plus: the Odinson clearly doesn't like that someone else is holding his hammer...it's Thor vs. Thor! And Odin, desperate to see Mjolnir returned, will call on some very dangerous, very unexpected allies. It's a bold new chapter in the storied history of Thor!

First Marvel comic I've ever read. I had heard good things about it. I enjoyed reading it very much and found the transition to the female Thor solved quite elegantly. Add to that pretty pictures and it was a very fun read. It does raise the gender issue. Though I'd have to ask a guy to read it to find out if it is taking detracting anything from the story. For me talking about it's a good thing. I like having a Goddess of Thunder. Much less awkward than I thought it would be for Thor to turn female.
No long review, I am not a comics or Marvel expert so I can't compare ... but since there was nothing I didn't like: 5 stars. (Ah well, it was too short.)
