What an interesting reimagining of vampire lore, just when you thought vampires had been ruined by Twilight and their sulky, sparkly, baseball playing (aack, all beyond stupid) vampires. Here, in the middle of numerous scientific vignettes about parasites (the micro-biology ones) and how they have changed life on Earth in many ways, how could they have also changed life in more fantastic (undead) ways? The book had bits of actions, ickiness, imagination, and science all in a pretty exciting and readable book. I'm curious now to see how the other ones go as well.
