Write. Publish. Repeat. explains the current self-publishing landscape and covers the truths and myths about what it means to be an indie author now and in the foreseeable future. It explains how to create books your readers will love and will want to return to again and again. Write. Publish. Repeat. details expert methods for building story worlds, characters, and plots, understanding your market (right down to your ideal reader), using the best tools possible to capture your draft, and explains proven best practices for editing. The book also discusses covers, titles, formatting, pricing, and publishing to multiple platforms, plus a bit on getting your books into print (and why that might not be a good idea!). But most importantly, Write. Publish. Repeat. details the psychology-driven marketing plan that Sean and Johnny built to shape their stories into "products" that readers couldn't help but be drawn into -- thus almost automatically generating sales -- and explores ways that smart, business-minded writers can do the same to future-proof their careers.
This book is not a formula with an easy path to follow. It is a guidebook that will help you build a successful indie publishing career, no matter what type of writer you are ... so long as you're the type who's willing to do the work.

This book is fantastic! Even nine years after its release, the contents are (mostly) relevant and simple. But don't equate simple with easy. The tips and tricks in this guide are given in bite-sized chunks but pack a punch. After reading three other books on self-publishing and marketing, I wish I had started with this one. Where the others left me anxious about marketing and releasing my debut, this book offered a better approach. Write well, publish, and repeat the process; that's all you need to become successful. It will likely take time to get your bearings, but as long as you write consistently and pump out great books, you will find your readers and create momentum.
I recommend this book above every other on the subject.

For a self-publisher in training, this is an excellent book and take on getting into it. Definitely recommended for writers and self-publishers, though much of the advice certainly would apply to an author who is traditionally published (work ethic, marketing, author platform, funnels, etc.).
Biggest, most commonly given advice (included in here): just do it. It's in the title. Be prolific, create more and more content.
Side note: They also highly recommend "The War of Art," which is now on my list of books to read.
Write. Publish. Repeat is the story of three authors who write together and separately for independent publication. They've made many mistakes, up to and including losing homes, but now make a living selling their books. This is not a book that is going to give you a formula to follow to hit it big easily. They write and rewrite a lot. They polish and market their products and have built up a fan base. This book is a look at how they run their business in case you want to try to do the same thing. The bottom line is that you need to write. A lot. Keep making stories for people to read. Don't worry about marketing until you have an amazing product to market. All the marketing advice in the world won't help sell a bad book long term.I also appreciated that the advice in this book was purposely ethical. …
