I'd call it emotional through and through but it's mostly retelling of well known sci-fi plots, usually infused with spiritual undertones.
Would like to add that I sense some much better and profound work upcoming in the next few years from the author, hopefully I'll be right about that, looking forward to it. Would give 3.5 if I could.
