Review of 'Snow country' on 'Goodreads'

This is a very beautifully written story, and although it isn't long it has great depth to it.

The backdrop to the story is like a beautiful snowy film set. The clever descriptions with repeated references to certain elements re-enforce the atmosphere (the mountain peaks, the "snow trousers" the stark trees and at the very end the milky way so bright in the night sky).

The story line itself is interesting and a little tragic, the main characters aren't cosy or particularly likable but are well developed and it is possible to feel that you have some empathy with their lives.

It is one of the few books that I feel I would like to read again.
