Solid plotting, though at times rather predictable. A shame I have to wade through the adverts though.... surely product placement is unnecessary given how much Connolly makes with his books?
I'm beginning to get used to the idea of one book having two themes/plots. I still think they should be separate, but I know better than to beat a dead horse…
This book had a new main character, and she's good. There were again to concurrent stories, but the combination was not as jarring as is sometimes the case. The two stories were both important and complete. There was nothing hanging at the end, and Michael Connelly has regained his position in my good graces! The book was not obvious, but it was definitely consistent. Good job.
I would have given this book more stars, but the reader (Katharine Moennig) was so dreadful that I knocked it down to two. She read in a monotone, and read all the parts in the same voice, so that I couldn't tell who was speaking much of the time. It was so annoying that I found it difficult to focus on what was essentially a good story.
