I am plodding my way through this. I may be a bit unfair: I've been reading Tamsyn Muir, Holly Black, Alix Harrow and Erin Morgenstern, and this just seems both pallid and overblown. None of the characters grab the imagination, and the central heroine is just an empty gong. This is a long fall from Nona.
