Once the narrative got into gear - about 40% into the book it was much better. I struggled with the opening Roman section as it seemed to be padding stuff out. Following the narrative is not easy unless you print out a map as the Roman place names mean nothing to me - I didn’t print a map out….
Liked the universal soldier aspect, borrowed from umpteen classic war movies…..
