One of our Thursdays is Missing is the sixth Thursday Next book, by the British author Jasper Fforde. It was published in February 2011 in the United Kingdom and was published in March in the United States. The title is a reference to the 1942 war film One of Our Aircraft Is Missing.

It's like watching season 3 of Arrested Development but where the only storyline is the Iraq one

A couple of amazing passages here.

Sadly, my lifestyle doesn't let me carefully review the books at the moment.

I loved Thursday's companion and "psychological thriller" nature of the book.

Was torn between 3.5 and 4, certainly the weakest of the series so far.

This wasn't my favorite Thursday Next book, marred only really by the ending. I was enjoying it until Thursday found Thursday. I feel like Fforde just kinda gave up at the end because there was no real explanation for how she had been sending messages or the fake Jenny or anything. I liked it, but not the end. I wanted more from Jasper.

If you happen to be a book nerd who likes fantasy, mystery, satire and a healthy dose of metafiction, the Thursday Next series will be right up your alley. It quickly became one of my favorite series after I read the first five books in a mad rush over the last year. However, after finishing the sixth installment, One of Our Thursdays is Missing, I’m unsure how I feel about the future of the Thursday Next books.

On one hand, One of Our Thursdays is Missing is a reboot with a different viewpoint character, but on the other hand it’s also the most self-referential of the entire series so far, and probably the worst possible place to jump into the series as a whole. Also, because it’s a Jasper Fforde book, telling you that there is a new viewpoint character is a huge oversimplification.

If you’re unfamiliar with the series, …

While I found it a bit weaker than other books in the series, hence the 4 stars, I was happy to find that Fforde managed to find a fresh view point for this book, still managing a bit of originality in the 6th book of the series.

It lacks a satisfying conclusion.
