Sean "Sharky" McMains reviewed Strange Bodies by Marcel Theroux
Review of 'Strange Bodies' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
I quite enjoyed this tale, which felt very much in the same vein as many of the seminal 19th century works of speculative fiction -- Frankenstein, Jekyll & Hyde. It uses the fantastic elements (which are, admittedly, fairly sketchy and hand-wavey) to explore the human experience and questions of identity and mortality.
If you like punchy, action-heavy narratives, you should certainly steer clear! But if a long, ruminative account of a life transformed in interesting ways, written with lovely, literary prose sounds appealing, it would be hard to go wrong here.
