The premise that humans have split into normal humans, Psy, and Changlings, is fairly interesting. Add a bit of mystery (what is wrong with Sascha? Who is killing Changlings?) and romance, and it seems pretty solid. It should be a fantastic read, right?
Sascha is a Psy. Something is wrong with her, and she's trying to hide it. Lucas is a Changling and is drawn to Sascha, despite her being a cold-hearted Psy. She's a cardinal. He's an Alpha. She shouldn't feel. He's animalistic.

I've seen this only once or twice before as a device in a book, and I'm never sure if it is an author's inability to trust her readers, an expectation that they can't remember basic facts, the author prefers to tell instead of show, or if the editor couldn't be bothered to edit the book.
But it detracts from what could be a nugget of something good.
It takes potential and ruins the story.
If that wasn't bad, Lucas telling Sascha, "this hurts me more than you," just about made my head hurt. Seriously? Are abusers okay?
This book could have been more, with a lot less. I'm not willing to sit through another of Singh's books dealing with the repetition. But I got a taste of sci-fi/fantasy romance with a bit of mystery. So that's nice!
