Hobb cleverly gives Fitz a reprieve and time and to draw him back into the politics that had already taken so much from him. She picks up years after the events of the first trilogy when change is starting to return to Fitz's life, places the pieces back upon the board, paints in the missed time, and draws us into a mystery threaded with loneliness and heartbreak. What an excellent return to Buck Fool's Errands gives us.
