Big and beautiful but meandering

This book is one of the denser bits of contemporary fantasy I think I've ever read. But I'm pretty sure I enjoyed it!

I'm not sure how to really review it, except that I don't think the teaser on the back actually had all that much to do with the contents. This is a book that's definitely more about the journey than the destination, and I feel like it was a bit handwavey at times, but altogether the characters were fun and the plot was interesting. I could feel some inspiration from Pratchett which was nice too.

Review of 'Masters of Death' on 'Goodreads'

We love an ensemble cast, although this one didn't tug at my heartstrings as much as Olivie Blake's other books, I still enjoy her work and creativity, I'd like to write some words from her sweet acknowledgements :
"I consider myself a storyteller and I am nothing without someone to consume my work. This story means a great deal to me, and I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading it.
If all has gone perfectly to plan, then perhaps I have given you something that stays with you for a while. If everything has gone terribly then.. I'll sort that out in the next book. For now, suffice to say once more that it has been an honor to put these words down for you."
